One person was killed and six others, including two minors, were injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred when Holly Moyer, 62, of Cogan Station, lost control of her 2012 Ford Escape on Saturday morning and slammed into a tree on Pleasant Valley Road, about three miles west of Warrensville, according to state police.
Conditions were very slippery as an icy slush covered the two-lane road at the time of 8:30 a.m. crash, according to Eldred Township Fire Chief Charles Whitford Jr.
Killed in the accident was front seat passenger Anona Frey, 55, of Cogan Station, who was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt-force trauma injuries, according to Howard Woodruff, a deputy county coroner.
Police said she was wearing a seat belt, but it was "used improperly."
Moyer was traveling east and was rounding "a left-bending curve" when she lost control of her car "due to environmental conditions," Trooper Aaron Brown said. The vehicle went off the right side of road and struck a tree.
Besides Eldred Township, rescue equipment from Loyalsock Township and Montoursville responded to the scene to assist in extricating two of six passengers. Several ambulances also were dispatched to the scene as well.
Besides Frey, also trapped in the vehicle was Austin Post, 27, also of Cogan Station, who was pinned in the wreckage for about 20 minutes, Whitford said. Post was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. There was no information Saturday night about his medical condition.

Moyer was taken to the Williamsport Regional Medical Center as were four of her passengers: Cynthia Arce, 24, and Anthony Moyer, 27, both of Cogan Station, and two juveniles, a 9-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy, police said.
Due to the crash, a section of Pleasant Valley Road was closed to traffic by volunteer fire police for about three hours.
