MUNCY -- The Muncy Borough council unanimously approved a resolution declaring a state of emergency on Thursday evening in a meeting via Zoom teleconferencing with four of the board members and the solicitor.
According to Ed Fiegles, council president, this is mimicking the same declaration of emergency the Mayor Jon Ort placed.
Currently, the borough hall, located on North Washington Street, is closed to the public and the April 7 board meeting was canceled. Borough staff is working alternating shifts to maintain business and limit exposure, according to a press release on the borough's website.
Council members present included: Fiegles, Thad Martin, Richard Umpstead Jr. and Dana Bertin.
In other business, council unanimously approved reports including last month's meeting minutes and the treasurer's report. Umpstead did mention that he had concerns about the treasurer's report, though he did not include what those concerns were.
Fiegles said his concerns would be addressed at the next meeting slated for May 5 at 7 p.m. at the Muncy Borough building at 14 N. Washington St. unless noted.
