Fire chief: 2 city workers in isolation
Two city employees are in quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to Fire Chief Mark Killian.
The nature of their sicknesses, exposures to the virus and their identities and places of work are not public information due to privacy laws.
Killian noted they are public safety workers during a briefing with City Council Thursday night, in which he stated he obtained a $33,425 grant through the U.S. Department of Justice for coronavirus relief-associated costs.
The money will be used to purchase masks, gloves and other prevention materials.
Two similar grants were applied for and the city is waiting to hear back on, he told council.
Lonza, a chemical factory in the city, donated large amounts of concentrated hand sanitizer to the fire department and volunteer departments, Killian said.
