Future uncertain for Veterans Day parade

The Old Lycoming Township Supervisors extended the township’s emergency declaration Tuesday evening by 90 days due to the ongoing pandemic.

A township resident noted, because of COVID-19, the Veterans Day parade would possibly be canceled, but as a way to still honor veterans, the organizers are hoping to make a “keepsake booklet,” which would include photos of decorative floats, emergency response vehicles and more.

In other business, supervisors unanimously approved a $220,194 proposal from Recon Construction Services for the paving of Mahaffey Lane and Princeton Avenue.

In addition, the supervisors approved an application to receive liquid fuels funding for paving, totaling $6,411.

Officials also announced the township’s 2004 ambulance has been sold via Municibid for $5,500.

Supervisors approved a one-year contract with Codes Inc. to help with commercial needs and to help certify in-house codes officers.

The supervisors also met in executive sessions on June 10 and 22 for personnel and legal matters.

Linda Mazzullo, Sam Aungst and David Shirn were present. The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m., Aug. 11.
