Students to return to Montoursville schools full-time
The Montoursville Area School Board approved the return to a five-day, in-person schedule. The action was taken at a special meeting Thursday night.
In a statement to parents, Christina Bason, district superintendent, said that elementary will return on Oct. 12 and middle and high school students will resume a five-day schedule on Oct. 19.
Bason went on to say that, although the hybrid schedule has been eliminated at this time, “should the Department of Health determine that the COVID numbers in Lycoming County warrant a label of ‘significant’ risk, the district will quickly move back to hybrid or consider remote status.”
According to Daniel Taormina, Montoursville Area High School principal, “It was always in our plan to move to this when the science and numbers dictated it. We were in a good position to return and it obviously better meets the needs of our students and families.
The district also offers students the Warrior Online Learning program, which is a full online learning option.
The updated district Health and Safety Plan and school calendar will be added to the agenda of the board next meeting, 7 p.m., Oct. 13.
