Planning Commission approves natural gas development project

LOCK HAVEN — The Clinton County Planning Commission unanimously approved a natural gas development project from the existing gas pad located at 596 Marriott Road in Gallagher Township in a meeting Tuesday.

The plan, submitted by Barry Schneider, of STL Resources LLC, details this gas pad to be expanded to a new pad that will be just over the border of Grugan Township along Rattlesnake Road.

The Gallagher Township site is located in the countryside district while the Grugan Township is located in the rural forest district, making the required setbacks:

*200 feet from blue-lined streams

*750 feet from existing buildings

*300 feet to wetlands

The plan for this gas project meets all setbacks and does not intend for negative impacts on local hiking trails.

According to Katie de Silva, planning director, the state Department of Environmental Protection issued drilling permits two weeks ago but is still waiting on the environmental permit, which should be issued for the project no later than Dec. 8, allowing the work to begin immediately.

The next county Planning Commission meeting will be held Jan. 19 at 7 p.m.
