Marlin Angelo, of South Williamsport, has announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for mayor of South Williamsport in the May Primary Election.
Angelo was appointed by borough council to serve out Mayor David Lechniak's term after his death in December.
Angelo is a retired 26-year police veteran and served 10 years in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a military policeman. Before becoming a police officer Angelo served as a state constable for the region.
Besides performing his mayoral duties, he owns a used car business in Loyalsock Township with his son and daughter. He is a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and served with St. Ann's Catholic Church parish pastoral council for a number of years. He has been a long-time member of the Sons of Italy.
He lives in South Williamsport with his wife Lisa.
