County workers compensation agreement OKd
Lycoming County commissioners approved the workers compensation coverage of $404,039 for this year.
The amount is a slight increase from 2020.
Commissioner Rick Mirabito said the coverage amount through Amtrust North America seems to be fair.
“We had a good year in 2020. Not so good in 2019,” he said.
A greater than expected number of employees filed for workers compensation claims two years ago.
In other matters, commissioners approved the purchase of golf carts from Club Cart, of Victor, New York, for the White Deer Golf Complex.
Club Cart submitted the lower bid of $504,000 for 144 golf carts.
The other bid of $554,112 was from Gold Cart Services, New Oxford.
Commissioners have noted the need to replace existing carts at the golf complex.
Commissioners agreed to a one-year extension to complete work on the river walk.
The project, funded by grant money, involves extending the walk-bicycle path from the Maynard Street area to Susquehanna State Park.
The COVID-19 pandemic had delayed work on the project in the past year.
Commissioners took action on several issues related to the landfill.
They agreed to reject a bid of $7.8 million from Worth & Co. of Pipersville for a leachate tank.
Jason Yorks, director of Resource Management Services, said the lone bid was a bit high.
“We didn’t want to base a decision on one bid,” he said.
Commissioners renewed contracts with Sunoco LLC for diesel and gas services and Fairway Lab for doing water testing and sampling work of wells.
Commissioners also approved a contract with Process Control Solutions LLC for maintenance and servicing of heating and cooling systems at the landfill.
In other action, commissioners:
— Approved an agreement with Proofpoint for email security at $15,146.
— Approved Max Wolf Martin PA for detective services for the public defender’s office.
— Approved an amendment to an agreement with ICON Fire Solutions LLC for fire equipment inspections.
