LoyalsockTownship School District stays remote until Jan. 10

1 min read

Students in the Loyalsock Township School District will continue with remote instruction for the week of Jan. 4 through Jan. 10, Gerald McLaughlin, district superintendent, announced in an email to district parents and guardians, Wednesday.

McLaughlin cited the county's transmission rate for COVID-19, which continues in the substantial range, as well as a very high percent positivity rate as the reasons for the move to extend remote instruction.

"This rate has climbed significantly over the past six weeks," McLaughlin stated in the announcement.

The district will provide transportation for students attending the Lycoming County Career and Technical School, beginning Jan. 4, McLaughlin said. Students should report to the front of the high school by noon in order to be transported. Those students needing transportation from their residence to the high school should contact the high school office.

Athletic and extracurricular activities will resume in the district on Jan. 4.

Families of students receiving special education services will be contacted by the district concerning the provisions being made for the continuation of these services.

McLaughlin noted that the district will continue to "monitor the health and safety of our students and staff and will make adjustments as necessary."
