317 free testing sites at Rite Aid now open
Free drive-through COVID testing sites are available at 317 Rite Aids across the state, New York and New Jersey as of today, according to a press release.
Through Rite Aid’s retail partnership with the United States Department of Health and Human Services, the new sites will have self-swab nasal tests that are overseen by the store’s pharmacists.
Williamsport locations include East Third Street, Lycoming Creek Road and Fifth Street. Others in the region are available on East Bishop Street in Bellefonte and North Atherton Street in State College.
These sites only have drive through testing and must have appointments that are scheduled online in order to receive a self-swab test.
Before receiving an appointment for a test, individuals take an easy screening that ensures the individual knows the importance of testing.
The sites are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for individuals ages four and above regardless if the individual is experiencing symptoms.
Individuals who are interested in a test are required to “pre-register” online at www.riteaid.com to schedule a time slot for their test.
With this addition, Rite Aid is now operating 777 total testing sites across 16 different states.
Rite Aid partners with Verily’s Baseline COVID-19 Testing Program to help provide screening, scheduling and the transport of results. The clinical operation is provided by PWNHealth.
