City Council’s economic revitalization committee has a goal to improve conditions in Williamsport as the city emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The ultimate goal of these conversations is to gain input from stakeholders to create a development plan, incentive package, and marketing strategy to spur growth across the city,” Councilman Dave Banks, committee chairman, said.

“Cuts alone won’t make the difference in the budget,” Banks said.

“We need to be proactive in expanding the tax base by attracting new development and expanding our attractiveness as a place to move to and raise your family,” Banks said.

The committee is prepared to host a representative from industry at its next meeting, he said.

Other meetings might involve talking with someone from the health care systems, he said.
