Raise the Region 2021 raises over $2M for area nonprofits

The annual, 30-hour online fundraiser, Raise the Region, brought in $2,030,647 to help benefit different non-profit organizations that support communities in Lycoming, Union, Northumberland, Snyder, Montour and Columbia counties, between March 10 and 11.

There were 272 non-profits involved and 7,347 different donors.

The $5,000 Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships grand prize award is given to the top small and large organizations with the most unique donors and was given to Cherished Cats Rescue Alliance and Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble.

Second prize winners, Bellabons Pet Recovery Services and Central Pennsylvania Food Bank both received $2,000 and third prize winners, Cats in Bloom and the Lycoming County SPCA both received $1,000.

According to Jennifer Wilson, president and CEO of FCFP, this year's results represented a 42 percent increase over last year's fundraiser.

"We feel really good," she said. "More than anything, we are so inspired by the generosity that we watched play out."

Since the first event in 2013, Raise the Region has brought in more than $12 million in donations for local nonprofit organizations.

A number of other organizations, including but not limited to Williamsport Area School District Education Foundation, Billtown Blues Association, the Lycoming County United Way, Community Theatre League Inc., Lycoming Animal Protection Society, Loyalsock Odyssey of the Mind Boosters, Aly's Monkey Movement and Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA also received monetary prizes from various different sponsors including UPMC, Weis Markets, Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, Larson Design Group and more.
