The East Lycoming School Board approved next year's proposed district budget that includes a 0.58 tax millage increase.
Business manager Heather Burke told the board at its recent meeting that she expects little change to the more than $26 million spending plan by the time it comes up for final approval in June.
Among the largest expenditure of the budget is $11.2 for salaries.
The tax hike would bring the district's millage rate to 14.96.
A tax increase of 0.58 mills would mean an additional $58 per year for a property owner with a home having an assessed value of $100,000.
Other taxes proposed in the budget are one half of 1 percent real estate transfer and 1.2 percent earned income.
Burke said about $600,000 from the fund balance is expected to be used to help balance the spending plan.
In other matters, the board discussed social distancing for high school graduation ceremonies.
The plan, as outlined by Superintendent Michael Pawlik calls for holding the June 2 ceremony at the football field and allowing attendees to sit on the field and in the bleachers.
"Our intention is to have a traditional graduation," he said.
Another possibility, he noted, would be to hold graduation at the fairgrounds.
The board approved a three-year contract with UPMC Sports Medicine for athletic services. The yearly costs will be $31,212, $32,100, and $33,060.
In personnel matters, the board accepted the resignation of Karen Swisher as part-time event staff member and fitness center attendant and approved Thomas Knight Jr. as an athletic volunteer.
The board met in executive session to consider personnel and legal matters.
The next board meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 11.
