A public hearing for conditional use approval for construction of a Verizon cell tower at 1801 Loyalsock Ave. was approved for advertising Tuesday by Loyalsock Township supervisors.
The public hearing will be at 7 p.m. May 25 at the township building.
The tower is proposed to be on Loyalsock Township School District property.
Verizon's plan is to lease the space and construct the 128-foot-tall tower and ground equipment for cellular service.
Shrubs will be planted to surround the fencing for buffering purposes. The tower would be close to where Joe's Pizza is located, according to the plan which was recommended for approval by the township planning commission.
Supervisors took action to approve a land development plan for Seneca Resources at 2700 Lycoming Creek Road.
The company plans to occupy the existing modular office until a new building is completed later this summer.
Julie Heins of Seneca said the company plans to use the gate entry exit off Hays Lane rather than Lycoming Creek Road.
Supervisors were aprised the township will receive $10,889 in Lycoming County aid for use on line painting of roads. The project, which is estimated at $17,000, will be paid for using the aid and liquid fuels funds, said Bill Burdett, township manager.
A Comcast franchise fee agreement was tabled to review language.
Supervisors approved the construction of accessible curb cuts. The job will be done along Country Club Drive to Lincoln Drive and west on Lincoln Drive, Burdett said.
It is expected to take about five more years to complete the entire curb cut Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, he said.
For the latest curb cut project, HRG is the engineer and SEDA-Council of Governments approved the work. The supervisors are expected to award the contract at the May 25 meeting.
Supervisors agreed to refund a woman $1,175 in taxes due to a mix up on the kind of taxes she was to pay. Supervisors also approved a rebate on taxes for a rental property owner who is owned $133 as a result of a business privilege tax mistake.
Supervisors approved the resolution to make the Lycoming County 2020 Hazardous Mitigation Plan the township's plan. The township has flood prone areas and other areas that pose risk and hazard that can result in a loss of life, property, economic hardship and require a mitigation plan, Burdett noted.
The township tax office continues to accept the tax returns at 2132 Northway Road on Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., said Dorothy Dottie White Mertz, tax collector.
She informed supervisors that tax return percentage is about 86 percent at this time with more than 3,392 paid.
Supervisors take a road tour next month to assess the conditions of the roads in the area in conjunction with the state Department of Transportation.
