City Council approved a Danville company to build a causeway in Lycoming Creek, as part of a need to repair riprap as part of the levee recertification project.
The contract for $36,941 was awarded to Earthworks Services LLC of Danville.
Jon Sander, city engineer, said when the creek water level is lower, perhaps in July or August, the company will begin to construct the causeway from west to east. The rock will then be moved to streets and parks department as city property.
The vote was 5-0, with Councilman Adam Yoder abstaining and Councilwoman Liz Miele who arrived later in the meeting, absent for the vote. Council also approved a consolidation and land development plan for Hedrick Hardware, 414 Rose St.
The decision will free up 20 parking spaces. It also is expected to improve the safety in the area for those leaving and going to the hardware store.
Council approved a 2020 state fire grant of $13,659. The grant will be used toward a debt reduction loan payment for a Tahoe command vehicle, said Mark Killian, city fire chief.
