Lycoming County Voter Services personnel on Friday began the task of considering ballots cast in the primary election.
It generally takes about seven to 10 days to conduct the official count, according to Voter Services Director Forrest Lehman.
"It's a long process," he said, and is required by the state election code.
Part of that process includes going through provisional, absentee, and write-in ballots cast in the election, he noted.
Getting an accurate count of votes and turning up any discrepancies that may have occurred are the goals of the official count.
Write-in votes for particular people can be expected to be known at the conclusion of the official count.
Voting results remain unofficial until re-checking of ballots is complete.
A total of 22,801 ballots in Lycoming County were cast in the primary.
The county has 71,365 registered voters.
