Lycoming County planners consider noise ordinance
The Lycoming County Planning Commission discussed the possible exemption from a state noise ordinance during its recent regular monthly meeting.
The issue stems from complaints from a Bastress Township business which drew noise complaints.
Tiffany Krajewski, community and economic development planner, reported to planners the township can apply for the exemption.
However, the township would still be required to comply with the county’s noise ordinance governing amplified sound.
The Nippenose Tavern, Krajewski noted, was cited by the State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for loud noise.
“There had been a compliant,” Krajewski said.
Discussions are under way with the state.
In other matters, planners gave final approval for a land development plan in Muncy Township.
Conditional approval was granted earlier this year for the plan calling for construction of a Starbucks and a restaurant originally identified as Chick-fil-A.
Township supervisors have already given their OK to the 7,000-square-foot site at Lycoming Crossing.
