Pools in Jersey Shore, Muncy, Loyalsock Township plan openings
While the rain and cold temperatures through Memorial Day weekend kept local pools closed, that will be remedied as early as Saturday.
Per the Loyalsock Township website, the Loyalsock Community Pool will be open Saturday and Sunday for public swims and will open full-time June 11. The pool is open from 1-7:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 1-6:45 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Adult swim is daily from noon to 1 p.m.
Daily fees for residents are $6 per person 12 and older and $5 per person ages 2-11. The fees for non-residents are $8 and $7, respectively. All children under 2 are free.
Muncy Pool President Hannah Peachey said that the pool will “tentatively” open June 16. Daily hours will be 1-7 p.m., and daily admission will be $5 for ages 3 and up.
“It’s hard to say” which, if any, COVID-19 guidelines the pool will have to follow, Peachey said. “We do our best to sanitize.”
Peachey said that safe practices are important to the staff.
We want to “provide a clean and sanitary place…so our patrons feel comfortable,” Peachey said.
The Muncy Pool will not be offering swimming lessons this year, but pool parties are still on the table. Details about pool parties can be found on the pool’s Facebook page, Peachey said.
Starting Saturday, the Jersey Shore Community Pool will be open daily from noon to 6 p.m. The pool will close early or altogether for special circumstances that will be communicated in advance, said Bonnie Messersmith, the Jersey Shore Community Pool manager and Jersey Shore Borough bookkeeper.
Walk-in prices are $4 for ages 6 and up, $2 for ages 2-5, and children under 2 are free.
Adult swim is daily from 11 a.m. to noon and costs $1. During the same block of time, Mommy/Daddy and Me is offered for parents and children under 3 for $1.
“We’re going to follow any and all state (COVID-19) guidelines,” Messersmith said.
The Jersey Shore Community pool also offers open and closed pool parties.
