A 97-year-old city woman was pronounced dead in a single vehicle crash into a business
Friday night in Old Lycoming Township, the county coroner said Sunday.
Alice Schramm died as a result of blunt force trauma, according to the examination by Coroner Charles E. Kiessing Jr. "There was no autopsy done," Kiessling said.
Police said a vehicle drive by Mary A. Kerbacher, 62, drove off Lycoming Creek Road in the 2000 block, went through yards and struck a business.
A township officer provided aid to the occupants, both of whom were wearing their seat belts, however, the air bags had deployed.
Kerbacher sustained minor injuries.
Schramm was transported to UPMC Susquehanna and was pronounced deceased.
A police statement indicated while Officers were conducting their investigation, a vehicle proceeded through the clearly marked closed roadway.
The driver of this vehicle drove past several fire police officers.
The driver went stopped became upset and caused a disturbance in the Rite Aid parking lot off Lycoming Creek Road.
Several officers then had to assist the officer who made the traffic stop on the man, police said.
