Loyalsock Township man killed in crash on Third Street

2 min read

A 52-year-old man was killed late Thursday afternoon when his Volkswagen Jetta slammed into the back of a Toyota Highlander, whose driver was stopped, waiting to turn into the Loyal Plaza on East Third Street in Loyalsock Township, state police said.

Ronald Wagner Jr., who lived just a short distance from the accident, crashed into an SUV driven by Tracey Harvey, 55, who lives just south of Warrensville, about 4:40 p.m., police said.

Both vehicles were heading east when the collision occurred in the passing lane about 4:40 p.m., police said.

The Highlander was hit so hard that it spun around and ended up facing west, police said.

Debris from the wreckage scattered across much of the two eastbound lanes.

Wagner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was in cardiac arrest when a state trooper, township paramedics and volunteer firefighters arrived on the scene, police said.

He was quickly removed from the car, loaded into an ambulance and rushed to UPMC Williamsport, where he was pronounced dead on arrival of traumatic injuries, police said.

Volunteer fire police shut down a section of East Third Street, detouring traffic around the crash by diverting motorists through the plaza.

Harvey suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital to be treated.
