The Montoursville Area School Board voted not to exceed the established Act 1 index in a resolution to limit any proposed real estate tax increase for 2022-23.
Brandy Smith, district business manager, said the Act 1 index is 0.71 mills.
The district millage is 16.23. If a tax increase of the maximum 0.71 mills were passed, that would bring the rate to 16.94 mills, Smith said. The increase would mean an additional $71 per $100,000 of assessed property for district residents, and additional revenue of $557,000 for the school district.
Passage by the board ensured the district commits to staying within the Act 1 index, she said.
