Home Show expected to draw thousands

SUN-GAZETTE FILE PHOTO More than 160 businesses gathered at the West Branch Home Show in 2018.

It’s nearing time for the 61st Annual West Branch Susquehanna Builders Home Show, and the set up at the former Bon Ton at Lycoming Mall has been going well.

“The set up is going really well and we are sold out for indoor exhibits and have outside vendors and food trucks,” said Laura Kriger, executive officer of the West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association and a spokeswoman for the West Branch Susquehanna Builders Home Show.

Last year, there were 2,800 adults who purchased tickets, with those under 18 years of age not counted, Kriger said.

“We expect a really good turnout,” she said.

This event will feature more than 60,000 square feet of indoor exhibit space and more than 70,000 square feet of outdoor exhibit space.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday. The show will require admission of $5 for adults and for those under age 18 with an adult there is no charge this year. Tickets are only available at the door and it will be cash only — no credit or debit cards will be accepted.

Hours will be 3 to 7 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

This year the association is donating to Dwell Orphan Care, Kriger said.

Visitors can look for experts in home building construction, speciality construction, sales and service of product lines and plenty of surprises.

The local, state and federal representatives of Congress and Senate, and state House and senate and commissioners have been invited to attend.

Among the guests who said they plan to attend was state Rep. Joe Hamm, R-Hepburn Township, Kriger said.

West Branch Susquehanna Builders is more than a trade association and builders.

In fact, it is a community of trades-and business-minded individuals focused on business-to-business and business-to-consumer growth, community engagement, social responsibility and securing economic opportunity through legislation and advocacy.

Additionally, the association provides networking opportunities, tools and valuable resources for growth to hard-working small businesses, and secure futures through charitable giving and scholarship fundraising initiatives.

In the past, the show has featured visits by local, state and national level representatives and senators who have their minds on serving their constituents, many of whom are the guests at the home show each year.

Some of the members — in fact, more than 55% — are associates, contractors and members of the small and medium sized businesses that serve or supply the building and home industries and provide careers and jobs to the area workforce.

At the show guests will find a variety of booths and displays from home construction, building needs, mortgage/lending, heavy equipment, landscaping, interior decoration, local retailers, recreational opportunities, electronics, music and media.

It’s an opportunity to interact with architects and engineers, electricians, HVAC/plumbing /mechanical, home exteriors, and more.
