City treasurer, relief wells on local agendas

Locally elected and appointed officials voted on the following matters in the past week:

County

The Lycoming County Commissioners opened bids for the Williamsport Region Relief Well Rehabilitation and Replacement Project for the Borough of South Williamsport and the city of Williamsport. There was one bid for the project at $6.7 million from Minichi Inc., of Dupont.

Municipal

Williamsport City Council appointed Shawn Marie Arroyo as city treasurer and Noah Bower to the River Valley Transit Authority Board. Council also awarded contracts for Shaw Place Park’s splash pad construction and for Lose Park improvements to Landserv Inc.

School District

South Williamsport Area School Board updated policies regarding cyberbullying, tobacco and controlled substance abuse, conflicts of interest and procurement. The board also approved a number of faculty transfers and renewed its contract with Nutrition Inc. for food services.

The East Lycoming School Board approved the proposed 2022-23 budget with a .7 mil increase in real estate taxes which sets the rate at 15.66 mills. The final vote on the budget will come next month.

Jersey Shore Area School Board approved pay rates for a number of administrative and support positions and the yearly budget for food services for the 2022-23 year.
