Water and Sewer Authority audit shows no major problems

An audit by Baker Tilly of the Lycoming County Water & Sewer Authority for 2021 revealed no major discrepancies.

A summary of the report was given during the Authority’s recent monthly meeting by Baker Tilly Senior Manager Adam P. Hartzel.

He reported that revenues were up from the previous year, attributed in part to increases in tap-in connection fees and favorable health insurance returns.

“Overall, the Authority is in fine financial shape,” Hartzel said. “It shows in the numbers.”

In other matters, the Authority approved a resolution to acquire two parcels through eminent domain to allow for the connection of water mains as part of the PineWoods Water main Project in Limestone Township.

The project consists of a plan to replace and add water mains to minimize water loss, upgrade aging infrastructure, and bring about cost savings.

The Authority approved a three-year electricity supply agreement with Freepoint Energy Solutions.

Authority Executive Director Christine Weigle noted that the contract locks in fixed rates over the term of the contract.

The increase in electrical costs prompted the switch from another company to Freepoint.

“We have been monitoring electric prices since last year,” she said. “We had hoped prices would stabilize.”

The purchase from Loyalsock Township of a 2013 Ford F-550 dump truck for $50,300, plus a 9% fee to Municibid, was approved.

The vehicle has 52,273 miles and is equipped with accessories that include a plow and salt spreader.

Weigle noted that the board is presently engaged in its strategic plan for consideration of budget and operations.

Starting at $2.99/week.
