West Pharmaceutical Services to expand

West Pharmaceutical Services is growing.

The company announced recently that it will host a groundbreaking ceremony June 22 for an expansion at the company’s Williamsport manufacturing facility.

Plans for this expansion, which will be a three-story expansion occupying 37,000 square feet of operations space, were first announced in 2021 as a significant commitment from West to continue investing in its local manufacturing sites in Williamsport and Jersey Shore, according to a news release. This Williamsport expansion will enable the site to produce compounded rubber product that will be further processed at West’s Jersey Shore site into critical rubber components used globally in the containment and delivery of life-saving and life-changing injectable medicines, including COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.

The compounded rubber product is now produced at West sites in Florida and North Carolina, the news release said.

“Adding additional production capability in Williamsport will enhance risk mitigation for our customers, provide more efficient movement of product to our Jersey Shore site, and importantly, create many family sustaining jobs in the Lycoming County region,” the news release said.
