To better serve customers of the Williamsport Municipal Water Authority and Williamsport Sanitary Authority both are making changes to the billing system starting Monday.
That is when customers will see two changes in their water and sanitary utility bills, according to Michael D. Miller, authority executive director.
First, the WMWA-WSA will be
transitioning from a quarterly billing cycle (a bill every three months) to a monthly billing cycle (a bill each month) beginning Monday, he said.
Depending on how customers received their last bill, your next bill will be either a one month, two month or three month bill, and then after the transition, all accounts will be billed monthly.
A second change has to do with who receives the bill.
Pursuant to the state Municipal Authorities Act, all water and sanitary accounts are the responsibility of the property owner.
As such, tenants will no longer receive WMWA-WSA bills and they will instead be mailed directly to the property owner.
In emergency situations, where the authorities may need to contact a tenant, such as a disruption of water service or a boil water advisory, it is important that the owner of the rental property notifies the authorities with the name and contact information of a new tenant.
To ensure the authorities have accurate tenant information, they are requesting the property owner complete and submit a Change of Tenant form which can be found under the Customer Service tab on the WMWA-WSA website at www.wmwa-wsa.org.
Additional information on these two changes may be found on the website.
After Aug. 1, forms that make billing and payment more convenient will also be available on the website.
These forms include documents for automatic payment, electronic billing and change of service.
