Jury hung on 2020 homicide, but decides man guilty of flight

A Lycoming County jury returned a verdict of guilty of flight to avoid apprehension but was hung on all other counts in the trial involving the shooting death of a mother of four in Williamsport in 2020, according to court officials.

Antwan McClain, 40, was found guilty of flight, but the jury was unable to reach a verdict or remained hung on counts of first-degree felony criminal homicide, aggravated assault and firearms not to be carried, regarding the death of Jimia Alston, 31, on Oct. 15, 2020, according to court officials.

A single shot from the sidewalk leading to the residence near the 500 block of Louisa Street was made. Following closing arguments the jury asked to view recorded videos of two police interrogations of a witness to the shooting.

County Assistant District Attorney Kirsten Gardner said McClain fled Williamsport to another state, and called his wife to dispose of his belongings.

McClain was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service on Dec. 10 and charged later that month.

The trial was presided over by Senior Judge Kenneth D. Brown.
