Sean Simcox was elected chairman and David Kay vice chairman of the newly formed Lycoming Regional Police Commission this week.
The commission met to elect officers and take care of other business in what was its initial meeting held at the Jersey Shore Municipal Building. The group will manage the Lycoming Regional Police Department, composed of police officers from Jersey Shore and Old Lycoming and Porter townships.
The department is to officially go into operation Jan. 1 with the dissolution of the Tiadaghton Valley Regional Police
Department and Old Lycoming Township Police Department.
It was formed in response to calls for regionalization of law enforcement services and will consist of 22 police officers.
In other business, the commission approved Erv Rauch as treasurer and Sam Aungst as secretary.
Cody Hoover was appointed as recording secretary.
The commission took no action on appointing a solicitor or a depository institution.
It was agreed to hold regular monthly meetings the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
An executive session was held following the regular meeting to consider personnel matters.
