SUNBURY -- A Williamsport man who allegedly crashed a vehicle into a police cruiser in Sunbury and drove away from the scene of a traffic stop on Sept. 29 remains on the lam, Sunbury police said.

Dante Kolasa, 20, of Arch Street, allegedly slammed into the police car just after 10 p.m., according to the Daily Item.

A warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of felony aggravated assault, the media outlet said.

Kolasa, who was believed to be in a gold Mercedes Benz that ran through a red light, drove from police who tried to pull him over. A woman exited the vehicle and told who police believe to be Kolasa to shut the car off, court documents stated.

But when the officer said he approached the car with his weapon drawn the woman who exited the car told the driver to go ahead and flee the scene, the report said.

The driver pulled away, nearly striking the officer and a high-speed chase began on Race Street, with the officer calling for backup, police said.

When the fleeing driver of the vehicle turned on Fourth and Race streets, he slammed into a police vehicle driven by another officer, and a parked car before speeding away on Fourth Street to Shikellamy Avenue, where the vehicle crossed the bridge to Northumberland borough, police said.

The car has since been found. In addition to Kolasa, police are seeking to identify the woman in the car.
