For those filling their tanks to keep warm, price fluctuations typically worsen as the colder weather arrives.
Still, what was $5.75 per gallon in early- to mid-November has dropped to around the $4-plus range this week.
"We were at 5.75/gallon before the election and now we're at $4," said a spokeswoman at Fry's Gas & Oil in Hughesville.
Some customers have asked for 175 gallons or half of a tank, she said.
Others are asking for the whole tank full.
Most oil tanks' capacities are between 250 to 275 gallons for average homeowners.
All politics aside, several factors go into the price fluctuation, according to a serviceman at Vanemon's Oil & Gas in South Williamsport.
The company, which provides service to Williamsport region along with Lock Haven and the Avis area in Clinton County, said it always tries to help its customers.
"We can only hope and pray the prices come down," the employee said.
He was highly concerned about the impact of oil rising and how it would affect customers' budgets.
Overall, one of those factors is low inventory of fuels used for diesel and heating oil, which may lead to high prices through the start of next year.
