More than 100 vendors are expected at this year's West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association Home Show offering something for everyone. The show runs March 31 through April 2 at the former Dick's Sporting Goods store at the Lycoming Mall.
It's in a new location with new features designed to attract current and future homeowners and those just wanting to check out what the new trends are in home remodeling and decor.
"Well, they can sort of have all of their needs met when it comes to their home," said Laura Kriger, executive officer with the West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association.
"We have all different types of vendors there. Anything from not only just your house but the exterior of your house. There are banks, there are real estate companies, all sorts of home improvement vendors, of course. We also have some other cool stuff," she said.
Companies bring samples of their products, such as flooring, roof shingles and siding for homes as part of their displays.
"There's definitely a lot to look at," Kriger said.
Students from the construction trades classes at the Williamsport Area School District are bringing pre-cut bird houses for children to do. The Pennsylvania Wood Mobile, a traveling exhibit that's put on by the state's Department of Agriculture will be in the parking lot throughout the Home Show.
"It's a large trailer that you can walk through and learn about things like PA hardwoods and sustainable wood use and that sort of thing," Kriger said.
To promote their annual golf tournament, held in August, a putting green will be set up at the show with a contest running each day.
“People can come, there's no charge, and if you get a hole in one you can register. You just put your name in and each evening at the end of the show, we're going to draw a $100 Visa gift card. So, we're giving away three of those total in the putting contest," she said.
Three food trucks, featuring pizza, Mexican street food and coffee will be in the parking lot along with additional outside displays during the Home Show.
Last year about 3,000 people attended the three-day event which was held in a different area of the mall. The lack of heat in that area and newer facilities prompted the move to the former Dick's Sporting Goods site.
"We really loved being at the mall. Everybody really liked the location. It was sort of central in the county, easy to get in, all one level. But we just wanted a slightly newer facility. There was no heat at the Bonton just because it was an older store. So we're able to have heat at Dick's. It's just a little bit newer and the restrooms are a little bit nicer. So I think overall, just a newer spot," Kriger said.
Hours for the show are from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Access is only through the outside of the building because of the current status of the mall.
