Williamsport City Council arranged for the transfer of various American Rescue Plan funds for the purpose of industrial expansion and job creation, paying for reconstruction and resurfacing of sports athletic playing surfaces at parks and buying two rugged vehicles for the Bureau of Codes to operate more efficiently.
Council approved transfer of $125,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funds to Project Edge, for a Newberry industry that is demolishing a building and planning for future expansion. The ARPA transfer was done on second reading on behalf of Prysmian Cables and Systems, 409 Reighard Ave. The company, which specializes in cabling, is going to use the money toward a $5 million demolition of a building and plans a 51,000 square foot expansion for future jobs.
Also, the transfer of $112,800 was done so the Bureau of Codes can purchase Escape vehicles for their job $759,000 was transferred for recreation sports court resurfacing.
