American Rescue Workers plan Easter dinners

The American Rescue Workers will host their annual to-go Easter dinner distribution on Monday.

"American Rescue Workers recognize that there is a population in our community that does not have the resources, skills, or need to make an Easter meal at home. By offering to-go meals we are continuing our annual goal of feeding bodies and spirits during the holidays," a news release stated.

The organization has been providing Easter dinners for the community for over a decade, said Melanie Shutt,

marketing and community engagement manager.

"We are prepared to distribute 300 meals this year, and that's about what we've done the past several years," Shutt continued.

The meals, prepared by Chef Mark Williams, who is the American Rescue Workers' kitchen operations manager, are free.

"Anyone who is in need of a meal is welcome to come, and you can get as many meals as you need for you and your family," Shutt said.

All positions needed for this event are filled, but Shutt explains, "we are not in need of volunteers for Monday, but we are open to people reaching out if they want to help us, and we'll find a position for them" with future volunteer needs.

Those interested in partaking in the to-go dinners can stop by the Williamsport American Rescue Workers, 643 Elmira St., where volunteers will be handing out the meals from the furniture dock from 4 to 6 p.m.
