Gas main replacement is nearly finished in Williamsport after several years.
"We have, in fact, completed much of the work in the city," said Joe Swope, manager, media relations and special Projects for UGI Utilities Inc. in Denver.
Some gas main replacement still needs to be completed.
"We do have a project coming up this year that will be primarily along Grampian Boulevard," Swope said.
City councilman Randy Allison recently noted the company was winding down its extensive mandatory main replacement work across the city.
The boulevard work involves the state Department of Transportation maintained property.
"My understanding is that construction will take place in a state right-of-way, so the city may not be fully aware of this project," Swope said of the boulevard main work.
"Outside of this project, we do not anticipate another infrastructure replacement project within the city limits over the next two years," he said.
Main replacement is taking place in Greater Williamsport, too.
"We will have construction projects taking place primarily in Loyalsock Township, Old Lycoming Township and South Williamsport over the next several years," Swope said.
Those locations were not yet identified.
