By Pat Crossley 1 min read

In the three regions of the Montoursville Area School District, the only candidate that is not advancing to the general election in November for a seat on the school board did not cross-file in the primary.

In Region 3, John Houseknecht Jr. ran as a Republican and lost to Tina McCloy by only getting 48.43% of the vote as opposed to McCloy's 50.89%. McCloy, who cross-filed, also got 88.24% of the Democratic vote. McCloy's name will appear on the November election ballot.

Voters only voted to fill one spot from Region 3, while two candidates each needed to be picked from Regions 1 and 2.

In Region 1, Brad Eisenhower with 50.75% of the votes and Doug L. Gardner with 47.96% won on the Republican side. Gardner got 49.46% of the Democratic vote while Eisenhower got 48.37%.

Brenda Oberheim and Sharon Meyer ran in Region 2 on the Republican ballot. Oberheim got 54.55% of the votes tallied, while Meyer received 42.62%.

On the Democratic side, Oberheim, who cross-filed to run on both parties' ballots, was the lone candidate, receiving 85.91% of the vote.

Both Oberheim and Meyer will advance to the November election in Region 2, as will Gardner and Eisenhower for Region 1.
