MUNCY -- The Muncy School board approved the district's 2023-24 proposed general fund budget with no increase in real estate taxes for district property owners at their meeting this week.
Real estate tax rates will remain at 16.72 mills which translates to $16.72 per $1,000 of a property's assessed value. Real estate transfer and local services taxes also remain at .5% and $5 respectively.
In other business, the board approved the following agreements: Kidswork Therapy Services, 2023-24 services contract for occupational and physical therapy and initial evaluations at $20 to $50 per hour based on the type of service plus a $50 fixed monthly fee; Infocon Corporation, 2023 tax processing service, printing, postage, mailing plus $1,750; Keystone College, dual enrollment agreement, $100 per credit; BLaST IU 17, eQuip online learning services Memorandum of Understanding, $620-$800 per course for grades 6-12 and $3,400 per year tuition for K-5 students; Mindful Alliance, school based services, billed through insurance; Central Susquehanna IU 16, financial/personnel applications, $12,774; Pennsylvania School Board Association, all access membership, $11,495; PA School Study Council, behavioral health and school climate assessment, $6,500; Clear View Asset Protection LLC, elementary school integrated security server, $4,711, high school integrated security servers, $9,422; elementary school cameras, $21,205; Keystone Purchasing Network, elementary basketball court upgrade, $54,811; Commonwealth University, 2024 Community Scholars agreement; Smart Solution Technologies, SMART boards, $9,880; and Direct Energy Business, 6/5/23 renewal electrical supply, 36 months at 6.67 cents per kilowatt hour.
Other agreements approved by the board included the 2023-24 Lycoming Career and Technology Center (LycoCTC) general fund budget; the revised articles of agreement with LycoCTC and a MOU with the Muncy Police Department.
Under personnel, the board changed the retirement date for Faith Leonard, elementary Title I teacher to June 5 and approved the retirement of Linda Kneedler, executive assistant to the superintendent.
The following fall 2023 coaching appointments were approved: Kristine Rosario, head varsity girls' tennis coach; Jim Nuss, head varsity girls' tennis assistant coach; Phil Aiken, varsity football first assistant coach; Mike Weber, Paul Kile, Matthew Meyer, varsity football assistant coaches; Corey Palmatier, head Junior High football coach; Ben Murray, Mike Diehl, assistant Junior High football coaches; and Dale Michael, Zach Burrows, Brad Watkins, volunteer football coaches.
Several members of the Title I staff for the upcoming school year were approved. Funding for those programs is through a federal allocation.
It was announced at the meeting that graduation has been set for 6 p.m., June 2 with a rain date of June 3.
The next regular board meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 19 at the Library/Media Center in the addition.
