JERSEY SHORE -- With the issue of school closure safely in the rearview mirror, at least for the moment, voters in the Jersey Shore Area School District were asked to nominate candidates from regions to be placed on the ballot in November.
Residents in Regions 1 and 2 were to pick two candidates each and in Ward 3, one.
The Jersey Shore Area School District crosses the Lycoming-Clinton county line.
Board President Mary Thomas and Nancy C. Petrosky were the only two incumbents running. Both cross-filed.
In Region 1, Petrosky was the top vote-getter on the Democratic ticket with 174 votes -- 93 votes in Lycoming County and 81 in Clinton County. She was followed by Lillie Langlois with 119 -- 59 in Lycoming County and 60 in Clinton County. Cheri Peters got 69 votes in Clinton County and 38 votes in Lycoming County for a total of 107 votes in the Democratic Primary. Bill Pfirman got 73 votes from the Democrats in both counties.
Republican voters in Region 1 chose Peters with 687 votes -- 420 votes in Lycoming County and 267 votes in Clinton County -- and Bill Pfirman with 521 votes -- 364 votes in Lycoming County and 157 in Clinton County.
Petrosky and Langlois lost the Republican nominations with 401 and 293 votes, respectively.
Thomas, with 111 of the Democrats' votes and 374 votes from the Republicans and Timothy McDonnell, with 84 votes on the Democratic side and 392 from the Republicans were the only two running in Region 2.
In Region 3, Harry Brungard was the sole candidate and got 82 Democratic votes and 397 Republican votes between the two counties.
In Region 2, both McDonnell and Thomas will run unopposed, as will Brungard in Region 3.
Region 3 had several write-in votes, but until they are certified, the names of any winners will not be released, which could be up to 10 days after the election.
All vote tallies are unofficial until they are certified.
