Attitude, family are lessons at Muncy graduation

MUNCY -- The 143rd annual commencement of Muncy High School featured 65 graduates in the class of 2023, with a few selected to reminisce and express joy looking ahead at their continued journey in life.
The remarkable atmosphere on the school front lawn was matched by heat, with a temperature around 90, hottest seen this year.
Valedictorian Alaina Brelsford cited Vince Lombardi: “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.”
To Brelsford it was not entirely correct. She added for her peers that success also “is whether or not they undertake every project with everything they possess.”
“I once read that success is achieved by ordinary people with extraordinary determination,” she said.
Students Branson Eyer offered remarks on gratitude; Autumn Schmitt on attitude and Alexa Rice on latitude.
“You stood by us every step of the way today as we stand here on the precipice of a new endeavor in our lives,” Eyer said to parents, also acknowledging friends and classmates and teachers and staff.
“What role does attitude play in success?” Schmitt asked and answered. “The short answer -- everything.”
“This is not where our storyline ends, it has just prepared us to write the next chapter,” Rice said.
Rowan Revata said he wished he had a pause button and five more minutes to take it all in one more time.
He also suggested that after the ceremony students take five more minutes to think about their families for all they’ve done.
“Hug your best friend a little tighter ... thank your favorite teacher or staff member, for it’s very possible that’ll be much longer than five more minutes until you see them again.”
Remarks by Dr. Craig Skaluba, superintendent, highlighted the class athletic and academic achievements.
The hour-long commencement can be viewed in its entirety on the school's Facebook page.
