The Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority approved contracts for infrastructure improvements during its recent regular monthly meeting.
The authority approved HRI Inc. for runway rehabilitation and taxiway repaving projects.
The runway work, to include the addition of precision approach path indicators for airplanes, is for $2.28 million.
The repaving project is to include regrading and foundation work.
In other action, the authority approved the 2022 financial audit by Baker Tilly.
It was noted that the audit recommended additional airport staffing, the same recommendation made in the previous year's audit.
Richard Howell, director for the Williamsport Regional Airport said the recommendation specifically calls for hiring an additional person to assist in carrying out duties now performed by a single employee.
A payment of $23,472 to Lundy Construction Co. Inc. for tower renovation work now underway was approved.
In his monthly report to the authority, Howell reported that PennDOT officials are hoping to meet with Montoursville Borough officials regarding the Montour Street extension project.
He noted that the design process for the Hangar D modifications is underway and the contracts for the airport sewer upgrades have been signed.
The authority met in executive session following the meeting to consider lease matters.
The next board meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13 at the airport terminal building.
