Alexander Family Dealerships has officially relocated and opened its Subaru sales and service from Broad Street in Montoursville to a flagship, state-of-the-art building and spacious lot.

It’s the 55,000-square-foot building on the hill all new Blaise Alexander Subaru Muncy.

Founder Blaise Alexander was joined Tuesday afternoon by his sons Aubrey and Adam, Subaru management and staff along with special guest Jim Keebler, regional distribution manager for Subaru of America, for a ribbon-cutting of Blaise Alexander Subaru Muncy at 595 Alexander Drive.

The grand opening brought a large gathering to celebrate the occasion.

Aubrey, the contractor on the building, was congratulated by his father.

“First time he ever came in under budget,” Blaise said to a round of laughter.

“Now, Aubrey’s done, now Adam has to take over and run it with Lyle,” Blaise said, of the friendly Australian Shepherd and mascot of Alexander Family Dealerships.

“It’s a pleasure to be here Blaise,” Keebler, who came from the corporate office in New Jersey, said.

“We really do appreciate it,” Keebler said, of the Alexander family investment, adding, “we’ve got a few extra cars for you.”

“Could you tell me how many extra?” Blaise asked, in another light-hearted moment that drew more laughter.

Afterwards, Dave Kelley, Alexander Subaru general manager, shared with the Sun-Gazette how this journey to this modern facility near the Alexander Nissan and Chevrolet dealerships happened.

“It was probably about a two-year process,” Kelley said

He added that the two-year time frame was from start to finish — from planning to construction

“We were looking to move from Montoursville,” Kelley said. “It was just finding the right location, and they picked out a good one.”

“Aubrey took the bull by the horns,” Kelley said. “I just had to ride up once in a while and check on it. I had the easy part.”

Next on the to-do list will be to increase inventory and grow the customer base, with incentives to bring visitors in to see the state-of-the-art facility, to see the sales associates, test drive a car, including EV models, and/or get maintenance and service.

Alexander Subaru is one of the few dealerships in the area that is selling its new and used cars discounted.

“We are one of the few dealerships that are selling new cars discounted if you look online,” Kelley said.

The dealership has 104 loaner cars in service.

“We are one of the few dealerships, if you come in for service, you might have to rent a car or get a shuttle; we put you in a loaner car,” he said. “If you’re local, we will drop a car at your house for you.”

“Look around, Subaru is everywhere,” he said. “It is one of the best cars on the highway… symmetrical all-wheel drive, goes anywhere, 36- miles-per-gallon in certain models.”

The building has a showroom, waiting room and offices.

Moreover, the staff of the dealership continues with its commitment to educational excellence and providing employment training and careers for students from Pennsylvania College of Technology and other institutes of higher and technical learning.

The apprenticeship program that Alexander started specifically with Penn College is in high gear.

“We are bringing students in and we will actually give them tool boxes and tools… if they sign on with us and stay for a year, Alexander pays for their training,” Kelley said.

“Not only in the mechanical field, but we’re looking for sales professionals, and people to greet customers,” he said.

For the grand opening, attendees, including Lycoming County commissioner Scott Metzger and members of the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce, including President and CEO Jason Fink, were treated to what Rome Malizia, the Subaru dealership sales manager and a private chef, prepared — hors d’oeuvres including his peppers and oil and desserts.

Of course, Lyle tried his best to reach up to the table of delicacies before he decided he might have better luck begging from those at the ceremony.
