City 2019 audit to be reviewed

By Mark Maroney 1 min read

Williamsport City Council recently voted to continue a contract with its financial management service, Government Finance Solutions, of Harrisburg, agreeing to do another review in three months.

The fee is for an hourly rate of $150 per hour for eight hours a day, with discounts applying based on the document.

Tracey Rash, city finance manager and manager of GFS, briefed council on the upcoming planned schedule to review the audit with the firm. She intends on working two days per week.

Overall, the city has spent $223,000 in its general fund for the Harrisburg consulting service.

What Rash has accomplished in her short time here could offset that, Councilman Randy Allison said.

The 2019 audit being done and showing accurate reflection of the city finances is a "huge step in the right direction," he said.

The city audit for 2019 is expected to be reviewed in coming weeks with the city finance committee expecting to get an update from auditors with Zelenkofske Axelrod.
