After years of will it or won't it be sold, the sale of Lycoming County's Executive Plaza office building is a done deal.
The commissioners approved an agreement of sale for the property at their meeting this week. The county now has until Dec. 31 to move their offices to Third Street Plaza.
The sale brings $3.62 million into the county coffers. Horizon Federal Credit Union purchased the building at 330 Pine St. for corporate offices.
"This is something that was kicked around for years about whether this building was going to be sold," said Commissioner Scott Metzger.
"This board of commissioners decided to sell it and we're very thankful that not only are we selling it, but we're selling it at a very good price...which is $1.35 million over the asking price," he said.
"They say government moves very slowly and that was one of my campaign commitments to sell excess property," said Commissioner Tony Mussare.
"It took 12 years to sell one or the other, but we did it," Mussare, who is leaving office at the end of the year, added.
Under personnel items, the hiring of the following people were approved at the rates of pay listed: Brenna Wright, full-time replacement adult probation officer II, $23.82 per hour; Emily Snyder, full-time replacement accountant I, in budget and finance, $47,794.50 per year; Hannah Uber, full-time replacement clerk III -- mailroom in consolidated services, $14.73 per hour; Arianna Fox, full-time replacement records retention coordinator in consolidated services, $16.70 per hour; Samantha Gordner, part-time replacement telecommunicator II in the Department of Public Safety, $22.29 per hour; Emmalynn Gillen, part-time replacement EMA clerk III in Emergency Management Agency $14.44 per hour; Stacey Folk, full-time replacement emergency management specialist -- planning, in Emergency Management Agency, $41,203.50 per year; Facilities Management -- Heather Haight, full-time replacement custodial worker in facilities management, $14.08 per hour; Ellen Oakes, full-time replacement LPN at the prison, $30.00 per hour; Cheryl DiBernardo, full-time replacement recycling laborer, $14.50 per hour; Jeffery Hamilton, full-time replacement veteran's affairs assistant in Veterans Affairs, $20.97 per hour.
The commissioners also approved an amendment to the All Group Health Plan because COVID testing is no longer required to be included since the end of the pandemic.
Other agenda items approved were: the purchase of network equipment and support for the prison, the Sheriff's Office and Third Street Plaza for a total of $105,143; an Act 13 agreement with Lycoming Water and Sewer Authority in the amount of $31,350 for the Mifflin Manor sewer system project; the 2023-24 State Food Purchase Program Plan Operation and Agreement to provide financial assistance to counties for the purchase and distribution of food to low income individuals; an agreement with GEO Reentry Service LLC for electronic monitoring for the Juvenile Probation Office; an agreement with Central Counties Youth Center; an agreement with Management Technologies Inc. in the amount of $125,600 for the installation of HVAC system at Third Street Plaza; the purchase of a replacement leachate loading pump from N. Braydon LLC in the amount of $33,994; and a master services agreement with Rapid Financial Solutions LLC which will process juror and poll workers pay.
The next commissioners' meeting will be at 10 a.m. in the commissioners' board room, first floor Executive Plaza, 330 Pine St.
