The City of Williamsport's search for a finance director continues and an exercise pad outside in Memorial Park could be built next year.
City finance committee members heard from finance manager Tracey Rash of Government Finance Solutions as the company based in Harrisburg asked for a contract continuance.
About 10 or less individuals have expressed interest but there has yet to be a selection, she noted.
The financial software package will require six months at a minimum to implement and train workers on.
The city finances are rebounding from prior-year confusion.
"I feel good," she said, of the financial accounts this year.
Rash is working at the city offices about two days a week. The search for the director of the department may have to extend past the July 1 aimed-for date, she noted.
A temporary staffing agency provided part-time hires in the finance office.
Outdoor fitness pad reviewed
An exercise pad from the National Fitness Campaign installed next year at Memorial Park is closer to reality.
The campaign is providing a $30,000 grant and the city will use Community Development Block Grant funds of $150,000 to cover the cost.
It is expected to cost about $180,000 to cover all costs including environmental clearances.
SEDA Council of Governments is assisting, said August "Skip" Memmi, city director of economic and community development.
The committee simply reviews and does not make recommendations. That is for the full body of the council but previously members thought the pad was a great idea and would encourage and promote cardiovascular, respiratory and muscular health in the city.
