A motorcyclist from Canada died after losing control and being struck by a truck on I-180 Thursday.
Barry A. Forsyth, 72, of Drumbo, Ontario, was traveling east on a BMW motorcycle in the curb lane when he suddenly lost control of his motorcycle. He was ejected into the eastbound passing lane of I-180 where he was struck by a truck, according to Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr.
The accident occurred at 5:23 p.m. during the heavy rush hour for commuters.
Police directed traffic to turn around and return to the Fairfield Road exit, where the emergency personnel were directing drivers. There were no traffic impacts to the westbound lanes of the interstate.
Assisting at the scene were the Montoursville Fire Department EMS and fire police, state police, Susquehanna Regional EMS, Montoursville Borough Police, Lycoming County Sheriff's Office and the state Department of Transportation. The road was reopened by 9 p.m., according to PennDOT 511 traffic alert.
