A motorist who allegedly fired at another on Route 15 at the Beautys Run Road interchange about 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday was in police custody and awaiting to be arraigned on felony charges, according to Lycoming Regional Police. The driver's identity had not yet been released.
No one was injured and it did not appear that any vehicles were hit by the three-to-four bullets that were fired, police said.
The road rage incident was the result of the two drivers being involved in a minor fender-bender in the city, but efforts to get any details of that incident were unsuccessful.
Both drivers continued north on Route 15 into Old Lycoming Township, police said, adding that one of them fired shots at the other as they approached the Beautys Run Road interchange. The gunman continued north while the driver who was fired upon pulled over and called police.
The northbound off-ramp to Beautys Run Road was immediately closed to traffic as police officers searched the area for any ballistics evidence. The ramp was reopened about two hours later.
Police agencies were told to be on the lookout for a red Mazda, which was found at an undisclosed location north of the shooting scene about 5 p.m.
The driver, who was from Tioga County, was taken into custody by Mansfield state police.
