City continues to improve IT systems

The City of Williamsport has, of late, strived to improve its information technology systems and a recent decision by City Council will ensure that continues.

Council and the city has authorized an agreement through resolution with Unitrends of Columbia, South Carolina, DBA Kaseya, to provide a document management solution for a period of 36 months.

The purpose is to give the city IT service a comprehensive, integrated and cost-effective means of storing and retrieving corporate and management information. It is not designed for the public or other employee usage.

The cost for the first year of this is $2,897; for years two and three it will be $2,148.

The total cost of this program is $6,400.

The money will be taken from the Information Technologies contracted services budget.

The program was explained to council by Kris Black, city information technology officer.
