Williamsport City council approves use of funds for a grant match

By Mark Maroney 1 min read

Williamsport City Council approved the Department of Community and Economic Development taking $2,000 from legislative contingency fund toward a match of a $10,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Preservation Office.

The city is undergoing a rewrite of its Historical Architectural Review Board ordinance and is getting assistance on this from McKissick Architects and Vern McKissick, an architect with the firm, according to Skip Memmi, city director of community and economic development.

The work is being done to update the ordinance, some of which has not been touched in 40 years.

The HARB often reviews development within the Historic District but the ordinance pertains to other historic structures within the city. Council is expected to be updated on this project as it gets completed.
