Celebrate the PA wilds with the East Lycoming Education Foundation this Sunday

The East Lycoming Education Foundation (ELEF) will host its second annual Celebration of PA Woods, Wilds and Rivers event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hughesville Fairgrounds.

This year’s focus is on logging organizations such as the Sustainable Forest Initiative of PA, which is devoted to increasing knowledge and community care of the region’s woods, according to a press release announcing the event.

“Non-profit organizations, artisans, crafters and nature enthusiasts are all invited to exhibit their knowledge and talents,” the release said.

This year’s lineup includes Falconer Michael Kuriga, the Susquehanna Riverkeeper, kayak and boating outfitters, fly fishing fans, maple syrup makers, herbalists, food trucks, Lazy Meadows Alpaca weaving, a chainsaw artist and others.

“Educating in short demonstrations as a family-friendly, make-and-take learning experience is the goal of every event member,” the release said. “Learn about the various animals indigenous to the area, nature conservation, native foliage and its importance to the ecosystem, threat assessments and much more.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
