Williamsport Bureau of Fire anticipates its new aerial truck will arrive in March followed by the two engines later on next year, fire officials told Williamsport City Council.
As part of this process, council recently approved a resolution authorizing listing and marketing agreements between the department and Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus as presented by Chief Sam Aungst and Assistant Chief Keith Lucas.
Brindlee is a third party that'll help the fire department sell its fire truck when it gets its new fleet.
Brindlee advertises nationwide and is expected to give the city a bigger "bang for its buck" rather than trying to sell the trucks locally.
The city has two new engines and an aerial truck ordered and will try to get fair market value out of the older apparatus, which remain functional.
A department goal is to be able to purchase a Quint, which is a fire pumper with a ladder on it. A used Quint was viewed.
The bureau wants to post the bids for the older apparatus closer to when it receives the new apparatus but it wants to have the agreements in place.
Aungst said it'll be about 10 to 15 years before the bureau has to start to replace the new apparatus arriving next year.
The new apparatus were paid for using $2.6 million in American Rescue Plan funds and $700,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds.
Council agreed to the use of Brindlee.
