House lost, one injured in fire near Picture Rocks

By Philip A. Holmes 2 min read

PICTURE ROCKS -- One person suffered burns early Wednesday morning when fire erupted in the one-story mobile home of Anthony and Marcia Clark at 833 Pine Tree Road, according Picture Rocks Fire Chief Al Little.

The Clarks and their teenage grandson who lives with them, along with Anthony's brother who was visiting overnight, escaped the fire but the guest suffered facial burns and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital to get treated, Little said.

Much of the structure was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene, Little said. He believed Marcia Clark was the one who called 911 to report the fire.

A large liquid propane tank next to the home vented, which actually fed the fire, Little said. Shuttling tankers to the scene from a hydrant in Hughesville, firefighters used an estimated 15,000 gallons of water to put out the blaze, Little said, adding that the fire was brought under control by 1 a.m. The home was a total loss, and the Clarks have fire insurance, Little said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, "but I don't see anything suspicious about it," he said.

The local chapter of the American Red Cross was offering emergency assistance to Clarks, Little said. Besides Picture Rocks, other fire companies that fought the two-alarm blaze were Hughesville, Muncy Area, Muncy Valley, Pennsdale, Clinton Township and Montgomery.
